The size of the soccer goal you purchase depends on the age of the players on the field, and the type of soccer they'll be playing.
Standard Size Soccer Goals
This full size regulation goal is 8 feet high by 24 feet wide, and is meant for a field that is at least 50 yards wide and 90 yards long. This goal is used for players age 12 and up and for official high school competitions.
College Soccer Goals
College soccer goals are actually somewhat smaller than high school soccer goals and professional soccer goals. Goal dimension is 7 feet high by 21 feet wide. Official college soccer goals weigh in at around 270 pounds.
Mid Size Soccer Goals
Goal dimension is 6.5 to 7 feet high by 18.5 to 21 feet wide, and is meant for a field at least 50 yards wide and 70 yards long. Mid size soccer goals are used for players aged 8 to 11 years old, in official middle school competitions.
Small Soccer Goals
Goal dimension is 6.5 feet high by 12 to 18 feet wide, designed for a field 30 yards wide and 50 to 60 yards long. Used for players aged 6 to 7 years old.
Extra Small Size Soccer Goals
Goal dimension is 4 to 4.5 feet high by 6 to 9 feet wide for a field 15 to 30 yards wide and 30 to 50 yards long. Used for young children and for official Youth Leagues.
